2. Introduction
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

APE is a small Tool to create Car and PED-Path for GTA San Andreas & Compile them to binary Nodes-Files.
The Tool is based on ListViews, to give a professional and extansive possibillity to read & edit nodes.

What are the features?!

	- Open & Save single Node*.dat-Files.
	- Compile and Decompile Node-Files to the DNF File Format of the tool
	- Fast DNF Import (Up 10000 Nodes/Second and more!)
	- Log-System (Not yet ready 100%)
	- Easy and fast Flagcalculator
	- Image-Drawer to create Pictures of your Path's!
	- Create empty (Stripped) Nodefiles
	- Possibillity to add path based on a memhack system directly from ingame.
	- ...

What do I need?

Well 1st you need .Net-Farework 2.0 or higher. You can download it in any language at
	http://www.microsoft.com
for free. Then you should have a unpatched 1.0-Version of GTA San Andreas.
	Thats all. Enjoy ;)

3. Getting startet
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Path Editing in San Andreas is a very young way of modding.
So there are still some bugs and many things which are unknown.

If you dont have any experience with modding, please first try to find out how easier things work!

For those already made some mods heres a quick-start guide about APE and the Node's Format!

-----------------------------

After running my tool you have two possibillities to Have a short look to the Nodes.
One way is direct open the nodes using File => Open. But there are still some bugs when you want to edit
only one single Node file.
So I suggest to add path only using the decompiled nodes in the DNF-Files.

Klick on File => "Decompile Nodes to DNF", select the Folder including ALL 64 Nodes Files.
If you dont know about such folder please note that nodes are locatet in the gta3.img file.
!!! AND NOT IN THE DATA\PATH FOLDER !!!
So extract them and decompile them.

After that klick "File => Import" And import the DNF File.
This may take several minutes (Depenting on your System), cause there are more then 1000000 Entries
in Standart - SA Nodes.

Now if the Import is ready you can watch the nodes via "Tools => Image Drawer" or edit them.
In this version Ive includet one direct way to edit the Nodes - The Memhack!

Run San Andreas and choose Tools => Start MemHack.

(>You can toogle SA by open the main-menu and press Alt+Tab!)

Now go to the first point you want to add to the Path!
Remember that there are 2 Lanes (One left and one right of you) and the point you choose should be
the center of the street!

Press F11 to Open a Car-Path and if you opened a car path to add more Nodes to it.
Press F12 to close the Car-Path (And add the last node to it)
For PED-Path use F9 to open & Add and F10 to close!

After you finished to edit your path press F8 to shut down the memhack!

To learn about Path I suggest to create a simple path first (A few curves, but no junctions!)
Now there are a few Nodes More added to your Lists. Have a little look and if you think
"Damn this is to much for me!" Klick "File => Export" and export the Entries as DNF to anywhere.

Now you can compile the Nodes using "File => Compile to Nodes" And place them in your IMG Archive
(Replacing the old ones and rebuild!!!)

You dont have to start a new game, but now you can have a proudly look at you frist Path you`ve createt!
